PIXEL

Flexible Furniture

Flexible Furniture

PIXEL may look just like a set of plywood boxes, but at the core it is a functional flexible furniture system. The concept came about when Yoraco and I were working on an development project in Berlin and we wanted to find a furniture bases solution that would allow you to change the layout and function of a big space (that incarnation was a giant indoor concrete water storage tank) in a matter of minutes or hours and with 1 or 2 sets of hands. We went on a little design journey and the first result is these funky CNC boxes that can act alone or structurally tie together to let your creativity be the only limit to their application.

How PIXEL Works

PIXEL Expansion Pack

This simple set of plywood boxes will let your inner child out. PIXEL comes in two sizes 1x1 + 2x1, and for each external box, 2 smaller boxes fit neatly inside. PIXEL brings back the joy of playing with your space just like you did when you used to build blanket forts but on steroids!

    1x - 452 x 452 x 452 mm

    1x - 424 x 424 x 424 mm

    2X1 = 5 boxes

    1x - 960 x 480 x 480 mm

    2x - 424 x 424 x 424 mm

  • The most fun part about the CNC design process is we can essentially make the design out of any material you would like. We predominantly use 12mm plywood, but let us know what you are thinking and we can answer your material question more directly.

  • As we are not manufacturing at any kind of scale, the cheapest we can currently get them in London is £250 for the 1x1 (set of 3 boxes that fit into themselves). For a full wall setup of 16 boxes (2m x 2m) it costs £3,750. These prices are for fully assembled boxes and would not include delivery costs. If you are interested in self assembly and flat pack shipping, drop us a note.

  • We can deliver fully constructed pixels or they can be sent flat packed for your own assembly. If flat packed, we will ship them with the correct screws but you will need a power drill with a phillips head and a mallet or hammer and a cloth to assemble. In our experience they take about 7-10 minutes per box to assemble.
